One word ... that's all I heard.

Around 15-16 years ago (2010-2009), when I was at a very low time in my life due to surgery, I experienced a glimpse of old age. I registered within myself of how I felt, and I felt very aged.

So I prayed. I asked God. "What do I lack that the early disciples had because when I am old I, when I feel like this, I know I won't be able to serve you physically like I would want? "

One word ... God audibly spoke to me only one word.

"Desire"

That experience was just as an author communicated it!

The book of Hebrews and the chapter of 4 speaks to what I experienced.

The actual experience can be summed up in verse 12-13:

"12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do."

All of my pain, every sound, anything I thought I had felt, all of it ... DISAPPEARED ... and my presence became saturated with His!

I heard the gospel from God, in one word ("Desire"), and I believed Him! Just one word. Only one word! It was God's presence, His life, that suddenly became melded into my life. The one word, "Desire", became my light.

Yes. I have believed in the Lord since I was six years old. But this was different. He made himself known to me audibly!!!

So when you hear or read the things I write, if you are able, try to remember that I lovingly and proudly focus on "Desire", especially in the form of "Desire Good"! His Good is what I desire.

For you to study it, if you want, in the Bible, that moment I experienced ... if you read through all of Hebrews 14, what I experienced was His "rest".

I had nearly no physical capacity. I was at his mercy. I had hope to recover, but what I felt I knew one day would be how I might feel before death. I was an open target - defenseless - no pride - no parade - alone - and experiencing a reckoning. I had ceased from my own works. I had nothing to prove - no audience to play to other than God himself.

For me, personally, I make a specific distinction between what a "word" is and what a "scripture" is. Jesus made that distinction as well. That is because we have heard God speak. We have both entered into our Father's rest (At least once for me in that way). When you and I get beyond ourselves, THEN is when God can reveal himself to us in his way; not ours.

For example, read Job 33:13-17

13 Why do you strive against him? for he gives not account of any of his matters.

14 For God speaks once, yes twice, yet man perceives it not.

15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

16 Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction,

17 That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

In my case, I was awake, but I was also far removed from any purpose I had remaining for my life, just as if I were asleep.

Consider Jesus and how removed he was from any purpose for his own life. That is why he was able to hear his Father so clearly. We have to die to ourselves in order for God's voice to become clearer.

Consider the Apostles who all witnessed Jesus so mercilessly crucified for speaking of hearing God's voice. They all willingly were removed from their own purposes for their lives to go that route. Why was it so worth it to them to chance that absolutely REAL fate?

Though knowing they could be murdered for telling others to hear God's voice and to do it, still, they taught THAT gospel, which is the gospel of hearing God's voice while knowing that possible fate.

Why is hearing God's voice THAT alluring?

It is because his voice is light, and his presence when speaking it is life itself - eternal life in person with them. There is nothing more illuminating - nothing!

If you want to hear God's voice clearly, you have to get to a position that you don't care to lose your life in the process. THAT, my reader, is true discipline.

So this campaign I have to bring others into God's rest to hear his voice and to do what he says to do, it isn't a popular campaign. The scriptures make that clear. They could lose their lives over it, lose all who they thought cared about them, lose all they themselves care about regarding this world, but to hear God's voice, to what extent would you go?

When you see my mountain top picture with the moon over it, that is somewhat of what desire means. I am trying to climb the highest mountain in order to get close enough to be able to jump just a little higher in order to reach what seems like the impossible, and it's worth it to me!

The scriptures explain it, and the scriptures promote the readers to hearing God's voice for themselves. It is our jobs to labor to enter into that rest because the discipline to die to ourselves isn't easy.

Hebrews 4:8-16 (King James Version)

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
