God came down to Mt. Sinai, not to give the people the Law. He came to speak to them in person, which is what he sent Jesus to do later as his mouthpiece. The Law was given because the people didn't want to hear God speak, but the Law was not God's first choice. It was his punishment. It came because of disbelief.

However, through Jesus, when we desire to hear God, God is pleased (grace) with our faith, and because of our faith, we are able to walk with him and fulfill what we hear from him to do (truth) (my sheep hear my voice), and that is what we do. That is being in truth with God. That is receiving grace from God. He is pleased with us when we do what we hear - what we are led by the Spirit to do.

The Bible is the modern Christian's "Law", and they search the scriptures because they believe that in them is eternal life, yet they will not come to Jesus to hear what he has to say so that they can have life eternal. His words are life eternal.

Never ever did Jesus say anything about a Bible coming to lead anyone into truth. That is purely a doctrinal fiction. Jesus DID tell us to hear what the Spirit is saying, that is, for those who have an ear who desire to hear. Not all want to hear God speak, just as Israel did not want to hear God speak at Mt. Sinai.

Very many prefer writings over hearing God speak. In fact, they believe the writings are God speaking. It is Mt. Sinai 2.0 all over again. They don't want to hear God speak. They don't believe God speaks. They want a book, a lifeless book, instead. 💔

"Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. ~Galatians 3:21"

Again ... in modern Christian speak ...

"Is the Bible then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a Bible given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the Bible. ~Galatians 3:21"
